Empowering Our Frontline: Local 320 Shop Stewards Complete International Training
Brothers and Sisters,
To effectively protect our members and enforce our contract, our union representatives must be the most educated and prepared advocates in the workplace. We are proud to announce that TWU Local 320 Shop Stewards recently completed a comprehensive Shop Steward Training program, hosted and facilitated by the TWU International!
Demonstrating the unwavering support and unity of our Local’s leadership, President Edwin Aviles and our Vice President / Acting Treasurer Anthony Farrar proudly attended the training alongside our dedicated stewards. Their presence underscores a clear message: from the Executive Board down to the shop floor, Local 320 is united in its mission to fiercely defend our membership.

During their recent international training, TWU Local 320 Shop Stewards took the official Transport Workers Union oath.
This oath is more than just a formality; it is a promise to our brothers and sisters. Our stewards flew in from all over the country to sharpen their skills and reaffirm their commitment to protecting your workplace rights.
By taking this pledge together, they made a promise: to be the most knowledgeable advocates on the shop floor. Their commitment ensures that whenever you face management, you will never stand alone.
Our frontline defenders are united, ready, and fully dedicated to fighting for you.
The "law of the shop" dictates that consistent practices, fairness, and solidarity rule the day.
When our stewards are highly trained, they balance the power dynamic between labor and management, ensuring that discipline is applied fairly and that our Collective Bargaining Agreement is respected.
We want to extend a massive thank you to the TWU International for providing this invaluable education, to President Aviles and our Executive Board for prioritizing representative training, and, most importantly, to our Shop Stewards who step up every single day to take on the heavy lifting for their union brothers and sisters.
When you see your Shop Steward this week, congratulate them on completing this vital training. Together, we continue to prove why the TWU is America’s Fighting Democratic Union!
Remember: If you are ever called into a meeting with management that you believe may lead to discipline, invoke your Weingarten Rights immediately and demand that your trained Local 320 Shop Steward be present!
