MEMBER MEETINGS • APR 17, 2025
As you may have been made aware, Shift Transit (an employer with whom TWU Local 320 has partnerships in both Portland and Detroit) will begin operating the Chicago (Divvy) bikeshare program as of February 1st, 2024.
Shift has set up a web-based employee portal where current Chicago bikeshare employees can inform them of their wishes to continue working on the program after the February 1st transition date. TWU Local 320 STRONGLY encourages current Chicago bikeshare team members to apply for jobs with Shift. Additionally, Shift will be holding a town hall with interested team members to introduce themselves in the next week or two.
Mirroring their approach last spring in Portland, Shift does not intend to take on the existing CBA with the TWU, and will set initial terms with employees through their job offers. However, if the current Unionized bikeshare workforce ends up consisting of a majority of TWU members, Shift intends to recognize TWU Local 320 as the bargaining representative of the employees. In that case, Shift would then negotiate in good faith with the union for a new CBA.
It is imperative that we remain unified as a Union – it is the only way we can collectively bargain for a strong and fair contract!
If you choose to fill out the Shift interest form, please also complete this form so that we may track the progress of all current membership applications. Please note – even though your Union is working tirelessly with Shift to help transition all those who will be impacted by this significant change, we CANNOT guarantee that all current members will be hired by the new employer.
Any other questions can be emailed to contact@twu320.org or you can call/text 1-833-411-3200.
